This is a DC-DC charger and also a solar regulator. The main problem with running a battery isolator is it requires you to run heavy gauge wire between the two and its not a good idea to run two different types of batteries with an isolator. The CTEK is also a smart charger and will charge you’re battery better and more efficiently compared to just running an isolator. I would make sure to buy a sealed battery like an AGM compared to a vented battery. The vented battery will release hydrogen gas while charging. Since you would be potentially mounting the battery in an enclosed space in the bed this could make for a disastrous situation. You can also mount a sealed battery on its side where as a vented battery needs to be mounted upright. This will help you squeeze a battery in the bed if you plan on build a sleeping platform at wheel well height in the bed. There is lots to be said about Dual and Auxiliary Battery systems.

We will get to that later. The first things you are going to accumulate are the necessities to make the ladies happy—water and power when you finally get settled in a nice camping spot in an RV park. We will talk about boondocking later on. Most RVs come with a foot power cable, but occasionally it is not long enough to get to the RV park power post.
If you have an RV with 30 Amp electrical service, then you need a 30 Amp extension cord with the proper RV connectors already on it. You are also urged to get an adapter that plugs into a regular volt receptacle and allows a 30 Amp RV plug to be connected to it. This adapter also can also be used while you at home to provide limited electrical power.
I have found several instances where a newer park did not have any of the older 30 Amp receptacles. By having both adapters, I can always get electrical power in an RV park. If the park voltage is low, refrain from using your air conditioner. If you find that the electrical receptacle on the post is wired incorrectly, do not plug your motorhome into the receptacle! Inform the office of the problem and then request a different site.
This miswiring does not occur too often, but the little time it takes to check the electrical post is well worth the effort, and can save you thousands of dollars in damaged electrical items.

Here you see the cord exiting the Pop-Up as well as the cord end. But, what do you do when the campsite only has a 20a receptacle. Well, 30a to 15a adaptors are available at most RV stores for a few dollars. These come in three types: Adaptors manufacturered with a rubber housing like this one 2. How do I keep the pipes from freezing in my RV? What can I do to stay warm inside the RV? Can I keep my walls from icing over? Will my fuel freeze? Is it even possible to RV in the Winter? The majority of RV owners do one of two things for Winter: Head South to warmer weather i. Winterize the RV and take it to storage for the season. Being slightly crazy we know there are tons of adventures waiting in the snow filled mountains. Cover Windows, Doors and Stairwell — It blows me away how much cold air seeps in from the windows, the entry door and the stairwell, by adding insulation to these drafty culprits you can keep the inside of the RV much warmer.

If you have room for 2 or 4 batteries, you might want to consider using 6v golf cart batteries. They are true deep cycle batteries and will last a lot longer than most common 12v batteries in your RV. Golf cart batteries have a higher capacity than group 24 and 27 batteries If you decide to change over to the 6v golf cart batteries, you must make an important wiring change. Most rigs that have 2 or more 12v batteries have them wired in parallel.

Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. This is a standard twist lock power inlet. It’ll quickly lock your power cord to this inlet. Now when you connect a cord, it will just plug in and then you’ll twist it to lock the connection. Then the cord will have a threaded collar on it that’ll tighten on these threads right here to secure your connection. This is a durable construction. It uses corrosion resistant materials. You can see the face plate is white, the housing is white.
It also comes with this nice rubber gasket that you’ll use once you go to install it. Just put your gasket over there. It has two pins there that just pop in, then you’ll use the mounting screws to secure it. The other nice thing, if you notice on this cover, that covers the plug on the back, it does have a strain relief connector. Basically when you run your wire up through here and then you tighten it down, it keeps any strain putting on that wiring.
Hi, I was hoping I might ask a bit of advice if you have time? My question is, rather than taking the generator all apart, do you think it might be possible that I could get a twist-lock plug for the twist lock socket and combine the wiring at that point into a small fuse box with an RV socket coming out of that. My goal would be that I could easily return the generator to normal function when others barrow it or if I were to sell it.
I should mention it is a watt unit. Thanks, Dan As I sit here, I attempt to frame the question, and look at the data provided.

The amp volt 2 pole 3 wire RV service The amp service for an RV is volt with a 3 prong receptacle and a single amp dedicated breaker. Click on photos to enlarge. Most people ask if I can explain the RV electrical system in simple to understand terms. The electrical system in your RV can seem complex and confusing until you have a basic understanding of how it works. Your RV actually has three separate electrical systems. We are primarily concerned with the volt DC and volt AC coach systems. The majority of campgrounds you go to will provide you with an external volt electric source to plug into. Your RV has a heavy-duty power cord that is normally about 25 feet long.
Depending on the type of RV you have, or purchase, it will either be a 30 Amp or 50 Amp system. When you plug into the proper campground electrical source it will supply power throughout your RV. You must have a Volt AC power source if you are going to use the microwave, roof air conditioner, the refrigerator in the electric mode and the Volt electrical outlets. For the most part everything else in the camper works off of volt DC power.

The 20A outlet usually does not provide enough current to properly start the compressor. A 20A circuit provides as much current as the load draws and will easily provide thousands of amps. Short two wires together from a 20A receptacle and you will be arc welding with thousands of amps in no time. What you say is not correct, and – sorry – but its from a lack of understanding. Any air-conditioner that requires less than 20A is going to run fine on a 20A circuit with properly sized wiring, even if it draws 70A on startup.
The problem is likely due to the length and size of wire and the voltage drop at startup.
